Mouldings have been a Designs of Distinction ® product for decades. We offer mouldings in various sizes & styles – ranging from decorative Base Mouldings to Crown Mouldings, to Light Ready Light Rail Mouldings ® . We’ve introduced dozens of hardwood moulding insert designs – including inserts like Bijou, Infinity, and Baroque, and Classic Revival.
At KBIS 2020, we introduced a brand new kind of moulding insert – .75″W Decorative Aluminum Strapping.
The .75″W Decorative Aluminum Straps fit perfectly with our existing Light Rail Mouldings, including the Insert Crown Moulding, Contemporary Light Ready Light Rail Moulding, and Traditional Light Ready Light Rail Moulding.
Additionally, these new Decorative Aluminum Straps match all of our other decorative aluminum accents – like the metal sleeves for square columns (which deserve a post of their own), Bauhaus Brackets, and even a few colors of the Decorative Grilles like Satin Brass and Wrought Iron. We’re stocking the new Aluminum Straps in Wrought Iron, Satin Brass, Chrome, Brushed Aluminum, and Warm Bronze.

These new Decorative Aluminum Straps invite a bright new look to the tried-and-true crown or under-cabinet light rail moulding.
Other uses for the .75″W Decorative Aluminum Strap
There are many creative design uses for the Decorative Aluminum Straps, but one of our favorites is using the strap as an inlay to outline traditional cabinet doors.
To create this look, we took the Brushed Aluminum Strap, mitered the edges, and attached it to the door with double-sided high bond tape to use the strap as an inlay. We actually used this tape from Amazon.
The design possibilities for our new .75″W Decorative Aluminum Straps are endless! We’d love to see how you incorporate them in your next project. To be featured, email photos to firstname.lastname@example.org. Follow us on Instagram @dodbybrownwood and tag us!
